Overview

There are over 3500 emojis included with AfterEmoji. We use Twitter’s open-source Twemoji library and we regularly update the catalogue as new ones are released. We’re currently on ****v15.0.

To open the AfterEmoji Browser, click this button.

Placeholder Emojis

Editing placeholder emojis

The 10 emojis down the left-hand side correspond to the placeholder numbers that you use in your text layers. To edit them, click the emoji that you want to change and a white box will appear around it. Then, click an emoji in the main panel to replace it. Once you’re happy, simply click ‘Done’ to close the browser.

Each time you change a placeholder, AfterEmoji auto-saves your selections to its preferences. This means that your placeholders stay the same between sessions — that is, each time you close and reopen After Effects. The Quick Buttons are also instantly updated.

Skin Tones

You can choose between five skin tones, as well as the default, classic yellow. For those emojis that have the option for two skin tones (like 🫱🏻‍🫲🏿) well, we support that too.

To change skin tones, click one of the two circles in the top right corner of the window. The first sets the primary skin tone and the second sets the secondary skin tone and the emojis are updated live. Cool, right?
