Getting started
Using AfterEmoji
Further Information
The 10 buttons in the tray beneath the main UI reflect the ten placeholder emojis you’ve chosen using the browser and they have a couple of super-helpful uses. We call them Quick Buttons.
Quick Buttons
Let’s imagine you’ve got all of your text layers and emojis nicely generated and everything is perfect. All that is left to do is hit render and go grab a beer. But wait — in comes the client and they’ve got some last-minute, questionable ideas. They’ve had a change of heart and want loads of changes.
Don’t panic — AfterEmoji is built for these kinds of situations.
All you need to do is twirl down into the emoji shape layer in question and select one or more emoji shape groups. Then, just click one of the ten Quick Buttons. That’s it. Consider it switched.

But that’s not all. AfterEmoji also copies any keyframes and expressions from the transform controls for that specific emoji as well as its blend mode, so none of your precious animations are lost. Unfortunately, anything you have added manually into the shape group won’t be copied, such as additional shapes or animators, like Trim Paths — you’ll need to temporarily store these elsewhere and copy them manually afterwards.

“Text layers and placeholders are cool and all, but what if I just want to insert a simple emoji into my composition?” - frustrated After Effects user
We’ve got you covered. Make sure your composition has focus and with no emoji shape groups selected, just click one of the ten Quick Buttons. A fully editable, no-frills, native After Effects shape layer of your emoji will appear in the center of your comp.
